Cast Iron Parrish Building in Portland Oregon ca 1864

Wonderful view of the Parrish Building which originally stood on the corner of SW Front and Washington in Portland Oregon. It was Portland's 7th 3 story structure and it's first cast iron building to use iron from a Portland foundry (Portland Foundry). You can see a small sliver of the Weil Building at left which was built in 1860. Both buildings were razed in 1954.

  2. Wow! Incredible photograph! It's interesting to note that according to accounts in the Oregonian (e.g. "Portland Wonderfully Developed as City in 60 Years", Henry E. Reed, 1911-04-02) this buildling replaced Frank Pettygrove's original store from 1845.
