Pre 1908 photo of Portland with the Abington Building

Built in 1886, the Abington Building was Portland first five-story building. It was originally located on SW Third between Stark and Alder. The building suffered a fire in 1908 that destroyed the tower and mansard roof. It was repaired but was later demolished in 1967 along with most of Portland's cast iron architecture.
